How foil stamping works
Hot foil stamping uses a heated metal die to press a thin metallic or pigmented foil onto the board. The heat releases the foil from its carrier film so it bonds only where the die touches, creating crisp, reflective logos, text and patterns that ink alone cannot achieve.
Foil colours and effects
- Gold — the classic luxury and festive choice.
- Silver — modern, clean and cool-toned.
- Rose gold and copper — warm and fashionable for beauty and lifestyle.
- Holographic — rainbow effects for youthful, eye-catching brands.
- Pigment foils — matte or glossy coloured foils such as black, white or brand colours.
Best practice for foil
Foil looks most premium on a matte or soft-touch background and when used selectively — a logo, a border or a pattern rather than the whole box. Combining foil with embossing (foil-emboss) creates a raised metallic effect that is both seen and felt.
