Best for
Popular rigid box styles
- Lid & base — the classic two-piece luxury box; a lid lifts off a deep base.
- Magnetic closure (book style) — a hinged lid that snaps shut with hidden magnets; a favourite for cosmetics and electronics.
- Drawer box — a tray slides out of a sleeve, often with a ribbon pull, for a slow, elegant reveal.
- Shoulder & neck — a three-piece box with a visible collar, popular for fragrances and premium spirits.
- Collapsible rigid — ships flat to save freight and storage, then folds into a sturdy rigid box.
How rigid boxes are made
Rigid boxes are built by hand and machine from thick greyboard. The board is cut and formed into the box shape, then wrapped in a printed or speciality paper that is glued and folded around every edge. Foiling, embossing or spot UV is applied to the wrap before it goes on. Finally, inserts are fitted to hold the product perfectly in place.
Because they are assembled rather than folded flat, rigid boxes feel solid in the hand and are often kept long after the product is used — extending your brand's presence in the customer's home.
Getting the luxury look right
- Choose one hero finish — a gold foil logo or an embossed emblem — rather than many competing effects.
- Soft-touch or textured wraps instantly feel more premium than gloss.
- A printed interior or a message under the lid makes the reveal memorable.
- Use a custom insert so the product sits perfectly centred.
